The Candle That Looks Like an Heirloom
The first thing people say when they see our blue and white chinoiserie pillar candle is usually a version of: where did you get that?
It happens at dinner tables. It happens when someone spots it on a mantel or sideboard. The blue and white print of peonies, trailing branches and a bird in flight — applied by hand to a white 3×6 inch pillar — has the quality of something old. Something passed down. Something with a story.
It looks like a keepsake. But it is made to be lit, not just looked at.
The print
The design draws from chinoiserie — the European interpretation of East Asian decorative arts that peaked in the 17th and 18th centuries and has never really gone out of style. Blue on white. Peonies, birds, trailing branches. Retro and elegant at the same time.
We chose this pattern because it works across interiors. It belongs on a farmhouse dining table and an apartment bookshelf equally. It pairs with linen, with rattan, with marble, with dark wood. It is genuinely one of those rare decorative objects that does not fight with its surroundings — it settles into them.
Why unscented
We get this question a lot: why no fragrance?
Because not every room needs one. And because some moments call for candlelight specifically — a dinner party where the food is the point, a home where someone has fragrance sensitivities, a wedding where the florals are already doing the work.
An unscented candle is not a compromise. It is a deliberate choice. This one burns for about 65 hours without clashing with food, flowers or any other fragrance in the room. It sits just as happily on a dinner table as on a bedside table or in a guest bath.
345 g of wax, one cotton wick
That is about 12 oz of paraffin wax and a single cotton wick. Not a small candle.
At 3 inches in diameter and 6 inches tall, this pillar has presence. It stands on its own on a plate or candleholder — no container, no glass, nothing to obstruct the print. The wax is the whole object.
It ships ready to give
It arrives in its own Helenairy box with a chipboard insert to keep it safe, and a candle care card inside. If you are buying it as a gift — for a birthday, a housewarming, Mother's Day, or anyone who collects blue and white china — it is already sorted. If you are buying it for yourself, well. You have good taste.
One more thing
We started this business from a school charity project, and supporting causes that matter to our community is still the reason we do this.
We think that is worth saying, not as a pitch, but because it is true.
